Timeless Dining Room

Location: Frisco, TX
Designer Credits: Dee Frazier
Project Overview:

The formal dining room is right off the kitchen in this floor plan. The clients wanted a beautiful area to entertain, while keeping it comfortable for everyday use. My client loves dark jewel tones, especially blue and green, but wanted the room to feel light and airy. Additionally, she requested storage for her formal dinnerware but wanted to stay away from the traditional china cabinet.

The dining room was illuminated with natural light from the larger windows and French doors. We selected a deep navy blue for the wall coloring, adding a richness to the room while keeping it cozy, and a light gray for the ceiling. Since the floors were a deep chocolate wood, I elected to use a light stain color for the table and chairs. I selected a deep stain console with mirrored doors as a balance to the light furniture, making the room feel more formal. We added simple stationary panels in ivory with the edge banding in a deep emerald green, contrasting with the navy walls beautifully. We further added the emerald green to the room through the host chairs and the large ginger vase. To keep the room more open, I selected a simple, yet elegant chandelier with white shades. The area rugs pulls through room together through a fun design that is simple and causal. What a great room to have breakfast or to serve Thanksgiving dinner.
