Project Overview:

In its original state, this space was a formal dining room. Since my client did not want a formal dining room, we decided to use this space as an additional seating area as it was located next to the family room. The room would ultimately be used as a relaxing area for reading and as extra seating when entertaining.

My client wanted a neutral color pallet of grays with an accent of deep indigo. Additionally, we wanted to ensure that all the flooring and paint colors would be great in a rental space when she decides to move in the future. We utilized a higher quality laminate flooring in a gray tone finish and painted the walls a deep indigo blue. Since this room was adjacent to the family room space, which included gray walls, the indigo walls add a nice contrast between the two spaces. As there are no windows in the room, to keep the room from feeling too dark, we add three large mirrors that help reflect natural light from the family room windows into the seating area. We added light gray upholstery on the chairs, ottoman and area rug. Each wall in the space has a large piece of artwork that helps to balance the light and dark of the space. We finished off the room with a chandelier in silver leaf and crystals to bring in even more light. This space is cozy and perfect for both relaxing and entertaining.
